The OrphanageLookAnime Conventions ⊃ O-Chibi-con 1

The Dairy Queen
Photograph
I took the Greyhound bus to Houston. Although I missed the bus at my first stop because of a little kid who was harassing me, I raced it to the Dallas station and managed to catch it. I then slept from Dallas to our one-and-only "bus stop." I took a snapshot on the road as we peeled out of there.
Oh, Uh, Hi
Photograph
This is Shelby, who was on the top staff at O-Chibi-Con. I'm not quite sure what her position was, but she was all-together pretty nice and cool. I know she was in charge of registration, but she may have had other duties as well.
I'm Pensive
Photograph
Jacqi wasn't aware that I was taking her picture, but it turned out pretty well.
Double the Jacqi
Photograph
The girl on the right is Jacqi from A-kon. The girl on the left is also a Jacqi, although several years younger. Their last initials are both M. They both cosplay as Gackt. Hence, the younger one is "Chibi-Jacqi."
Syn and Sugar
Photograph
Jacqi smiles at opening ceremonies with her special guest, Syn, from the band Vamp Star.
Staff Meeting
Photograph
Janet calls an emergency staff meeting to discuss the unfortunate discovery of the head of hospitality using the hospitality room for... other activities. She's pretty upset.
Back to Work
Photograph
The meeting winds down, and everybody heads back to their respective duties.
Focus. Focus. Focus.
Photograph
The groupie of Vamp Star (who looks good enough to be in the band herself, in my opinion) gets ready to open a barrier field.
What a Crowd!
Photograph
Before the Vamp Star concert began... This turnout seems pretty small.
Shiny Disco Balls
Photograph
This is, I think, a pretty kick-ass picture of the disco ball. It doesn't really reflect (get it?) much about an anime convention, but it's just such a pretty picture.
Are We Supposed to Be Doing Something?
Photograph
Jacqi's father-person and another volunteer sit on the sidelines before the show begins.
Red Hot
Photograph
Apparently, although only dancing, this woman is a part of Vamp Star. Sing, woman. Sing!
Smoky Whispers
Photograph
Once the show began, I attempted to take pictures. Unfortunately, the fog makers had already started, so I was simply blinded by the reflection of my camera's flash.
Tiles in the Mist
Photograph
The smoke began to clear, so I tried again. However, I was aonly rewarded with another cool fog picture.
Hi, Tina Turner!
Photograph
Chibi-Jacqi dressed up as Tina Turner for the later Scantily Clad COsplay contest. Before it, however, I managed to rope her into the game of 1KBWC I was running.
After the Game
Photograph
After the (somewhat successful) game of 1KBWC, I snap a picture of its remnants.
Beginning of Scantily Clad Cosplay
Photograph
Jacqi hosts the Scantily Clad Cosplay content and forces the male competitors to remove their shirts. Yay!
Hot Shirtless Guy Number One
Photograph
Dmitri doesn't look stereotypically attractive (to me), so my attraction must be based on something pheromonal.
Tina Turner Number Two
Photograph
Chibi-Jacqi, as Tina Turner, explains what ice cream flavor she most resembles and why. I don't remember anything she said. Why not? The hair! The hair!
Gothy Girl Wants World Peace
Photograph
This girl was simply wearing a sheer shirt... not really skimpy or scantily-clad... not even a cosplay. She loses.
Hot Springs Girl
Photograph
This was one of the two actual costumes in the contest. She was supposed to be the girl who pours hot water on the coals at bathhouses in Japan. (She used a word I don't remember to describe this.) Her costume has a one-piece suit underneath, and she originally had the straps up. After much persuasion from myself and others, she was finally willing to pin the straps under the towel to the give the appearance of nudity underneath.
Hot Shirtless Guy Number Two
Photograph
The hot mohawk-boy I'd been after all night made an appearance in the show and took off his shirt. He had a damn nice torso.
Evil Lingerie Sailor Moon
Photograph
Cassandra won the Scantily Clad Cosplay contest. Of course, it was no surprise, seeing how she was the only contestant who was scantily clad, in costume, and performing fan service.
Hot Guy Found a Girl
Photograph
Unfortunately, "Mohawk Boy" found a girl for himself on Saturday. Boo. Hiss.
I Like Pictionary!
Photograph
Although the Pictionary stations seemed like a great idea, they didn't get a lot of play. I managed to scramble a game together Saturday night before I auctioneered at the art auction. This girl helped me get the game together.
My Hat Says It All
Photograph
She is the wife of the webcomic artist special guest. I haven't read his webcomic yet, but I will. I promise. As soon as I find out what the URL is.
Cosplay Photo 1
Photograph
These are the only cosplayers (of the main cosplay contest) that I managed to get pictures of. I wanted to get a photo of the incredibly cute Gir, but I could not find him later when I had my camera.
Gundam Model
Photograph
Bandai gave away free Gundam Wing model kits. Here's my attempt. I think I screwed up the legs. I guess my mecha will not fare that well in battle. Oh, well.
Chi and Chocobo, Together At Last
Photograph
Jacqi dragged me into the Scantily Clad Cosplay contest halfway through. However, all of the participants got a prize for somewhat-stripping. Mine was a cute Chi plushie. I also purchased this adorable Chocobo plushie in the dealers' room.
Graphic Novel Swag
Photograph
Yes, it's a tradition normally to finish off a roll of film with the swag obtained at a convention. But now that I'm digicamming my con experiences, I can just take pictures of the important stuff bought. I got three Kare Kano graphic novels for $8 apiece. With an MSRP of $10, it was a pretty good deal.
